About

The term “dogface” was a sarcastic and sometimes disparaging term used to describe the American soldier. The term first came in use sometime before World War II, and aptly describes the soldier experience. A sardonic nickname that both laughs at the every day struggles of the lowly soldier, while also showing a bit of pride for those who trudge through the Army life.

Dogface History is a reflection on the experiences of the American soldier and the cultural phenomenon that surrounds the collective experience of life in the US Army. This is mainly through a historical lens, but also on the connections through the generations to today.
